Mirine Fulfinum Archaeological Park
The Archaeological Park Mirine Fulfinum near Omišalj is one of the most fascinating historical sites on Krk. The ancient Roman city of Fulfinum developed in the 1st century and its remains are still hidden in the area of Mirine, partly underground and even beneath the sea.
In the nearby Sepen Bay you can find the ruins of a large early Christian basilica from the 5th century, considered one of the largest in the Mediterranean. Later, a Benedictine abbey dedicated to St. Nicholas was built on this site, first mentioned in historical documents in 1252.
Today, the area is still being explored by archaeologists. Walking through the ruins, you can discover remains of churches, settlements and fortifications while being surrounded by nature and the sea.
