The Best Day Trips and Activities on Krk

Krk is more than just beaches: you can explore caves, take a boat to secluded coves, discover old towns, go diving, kayak or taste wine. Here are our favorite day trips and activities on the island.

Boat Tours and Boat Rental

A boat tour is one of the best experiences on Krk. Excursion boats leave from Punat, Krk, Baška and Malinska and head to coves you can't reach by car, as well as to neighboring islands like Plavnik or Cres. If you'd rather captain your own boat, you can rent a small one in many harbors – for some boats you don't need a boat license.

Krk Town and Vrbnik

The old town of Krk, with its city walls, cathedral and Frankopan castle, invites you to stroll around. Vrbnik sits perched on a rock above the sea, has one of the narrowest streets in the world and wine cellars where you can try Žlahtina.

Košljun and Biserujka

From Punat, a boat takes you to the monastery island of Košljun with its Franciscan monastery, museum and park. The Biserujka stalactite cave near Rudine is a short, impressive trip into the island's underworld.

The Baška Tablet

In the Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor near Baška, you can see a replica of the Baška Tablet, one of Croatia's most important written monuments, inscribed in Glagolitic script.

Active on the Water

Diving, snorkeling, kayaking and stand-up paddling are very popular on Krk. There are diving schools in several towns, and the clear water is ideal even for beginners.

Active on Land

Hiking, cycling, climbing and quad tours show you the rugged side of the island. You'll find more in our guide to hiking and cycling on Krk.
