Church of St Isidore

The church of the town patron Isidore (locally Sidar) dates from the 13th century and is the oldest church in Cres still in use. Inside stands a 15th-century laurel wood statue of the saint over 2.2 m tall. A relief above the portal shows the town gate, the saint and the town arms, with a 14th-century bell above. The church opens only on a few days a year, such as St Isidore’s Day on 2 January.
