Grižane Castle ruins

First mentioned in 1225, the castle was named after the rock face, griže, on which it stood. An earthquake damaged it in 1323, later it belonged to Bernardin Frankopan and from the mid-17th century to the Zrinski family. After the 1671 conspiracy it lost its privileges and fell into ruin. Only wall remains survive, but the setting above the valley is worth the detour.
