Grižane

Grižane lies beneath rocky slopes in the Vinodol valley. Remains of the Frankopan castle survive above the village; its name is associated with the local word griže for the rocks.

St Martin’s parish church preserves evidence of Glagolitic writing and was enlarged in 1906. The area is also associated with cherries and regional wine traditions. Check access to ruins and churches, and seasonal offerings, before visiting.
