Kaštel Hreljin

The ruins of Hreljin castle stand on a hill above Bakarac, which once served as its port. King Andrew II gave it to the Frankopans in 1225, and from 1550 it belonged to the Zrinski family. The settlement fell into decay in the 18th century, and the last inhabitants left in 1790. What remains are sections of wall, the ruined church of St George and the chapel of the Virgin Mary, consecrated in 1701.
