A rainy day in Crikvenica

Start at the aquarium on Vinodolska 8, with over 100 Adriatic species in 30 tanks plus tropical fish and piranhas, a sure hit with kids. Then visit the town museum with archaeological, natural history and fishing collections, covering Roman Ad Turres and the Vrtare Male cave where a cave lion skull was found. Finish with a walk to the Kaštel, the 1412 monastery that gave the town its name. In winter there is the Advent ice rink and in January and February the carnival tent. Check opening times locally.
