Easy - Šotovento Cycling Route 430
This easy cycling route circles Šotovento, the greenest and most untouched part of Krk Island. With its gentle terrain and peaceful surroundings, it’s perfect for all ages and especially enjoyable even during hot summer days thanks to the shade of dense forests.
The ride begins near Glavotok, a historic place once used as a summer residence of the Frankopan family. Today, it’s home to a Franciscan monastery and church, known for its cultural importance and Glagolitic heritage.
From there, the trail leads through lush holly oak and downy oak forests towards Čavlena Bay. Along the way, you’ll pass one of the island’s most impressive natural landmarks – a 400 year old oak tree with a massive crown and trunk.
Reaching the coast, you can take a break at the small port of Čavlena and enjoy views towards Cres Island. The route then continues through quiet villages like Poljica, Milohnići and Brzac, known for their traditional stone houses and authentic island atmosphere.
Before returning to Glavotok, you’ll pass small churches such as Our Lady of Health in Milohnići and the Chapel of St Peter in Brzac.
