Church of Our Lady of Health
The Church of Our Lady of Health, also called Gospoja, was built in 1859 by the people of Vrbnik after a cholera epidemic that took many lives. It stands on the site of an older church from the 14th century.
Inside the church, you can see a statue of the Mother of God with the Child, surrounded by statues of saints known as protectors against disease. Above the entrance is a decorative rosette, and the large bell was added later.
Today, the church is still an important place for local celebrations and traditions. It is often visited during religious events and processions, and many couples choose it as a wedding location. The church is set in a beautiful and quiet spot on a cliff, with views over the old town and the sea, which makes it especially special.
