Croatia is generally considered a safe travel destination with a relatively low crime rate. There are no areas regarded as particularly unsafe. However, as with any popular tourist destination, it is important to take basic precautions.
Handling Personal Items and Documents
• Keep cash, cards, and important documents in separate places. Never store your PIN together with your bank card.
• Make sure your valuables are safely stored to reduce the risk of pickpocketing.
• Keep copies of important documents and store the originals in a secure place.
• Do not leave personal documents or valuables inside your vehicle.
Secure Storage for Valuables
• Use safes or lockable storage provided by your accommodation.
• At transport hubs such as airports, train stations, or ports, you can use official luggage storage facilities.
• If available, use lockers at the beach; otherwise, never leave your belongings unattended.
