Medium - Vela Rika Canyon Cycling Route 453

Although this circular trail is relatively short, it’s a great choice for cyclists who enjoy a moderately challenging ride. It can also be combined with routes towards the Moon Plateau or in the direction of Vrbnik.

Right after the start, a 3 km moderate climb awaits you, followed by a more relaxed macadam section with beautiful views of Velebit and the Crikvenica Riviera.

The second half leads into a shorter but more demanding descent towards the source of Vela Rika – the only permanent river on Croatian islands, stretching over 12 km. A narrow path follows the river, which you’ll cross several times.

Along the way, you’ll pass the striking rock known as “Baba” (Old Lady). According to legend, St. Jerome struck the rock to create a water source. Another story says you should kiss the rock when visiting Baška for the first time.

The route ends through a forest of centuries-old oak trees, leading back to the starting point at Mošuna restaurant – perfect for a well-deserved break.
