Novi Vinodolski Old Town

The stone old town sits on a rise above the harbour, with narrow winding lanes and the Mala Vrata gate. Here you find the Frankopan castle, the Gothic Holy Trinity church from the early 15th century and the parish church of St Philip and James with its 36 m bell tower built 1909 to 1911. Novi was the seat of the bishops of Modruš, recalled by the bishop’s residence and the provostry. The writers Ivan and Matija Mažuranić were born in the town.
