Osap Monastery Ruins

On the Glavica peninsula by the harbour, recorded in the land registry as Osap, stand the remains of the Church of the Virgin Mary and a 15th-century Pauline monastery. The church is documented as early as 1446. The monastery was abandoned in 1786 under Joseph II and the church roof collapsed in 1917. The town cemetery, still in use, is here today, so please visit respectfully. Osap was also the site of a prehistoric hillfort.
