Vinodolski zakonik

This spot in Novi Vinodolski commemorates the Vinodol Code (Vinodolski zakonik), drawn up here in 1288 by a commission of 42 members. Written in Glagolitic script and in the Chakavian dialect, it is regarded as the oldest Croatian town statute and one of the oldest Slavic legal documents. A 16th-century copy survives and is kept in the National and University Library in Zagreb.
