Leo Sternbach

This memorial honours the chemist Leo Sternbach, born in Opatija (then Abbazia) in 1908. Working for Hoffmann-La Roche in the USA, he developed the tranquillisers Librium and Valium, among the best-selling drugs of the 20th century.
