Kampor concentration camp memorial

From 1942 to 1943 Fascist Italy ran a concentration camp near Kampor that held up to 15,000 internees, mainly Slovenes and Croats and later also Jews. Several thousand people died. The memorial and cemetery were built in 1955 to designs by architect Edvard Ravnikar. A quiet place that calls for respectful behaviour.
