Kampor: monastery, memorial, sunset

Walk the 3 km paved path from Rab town to the Franciscan monastery of St Euphemia with its collections. Further on is the memorial to the 1942–43 Italian concentration camp, where up to 15,000 people were interned and thousands died; the 1955 complex by Edvard Ravnikar calls for respect. End at Kampor Mel beach, praised for fine sand and the island’s best sunsets. On 16 September you can join the St Euphemia feast. Check the monastery’s opening hours beforehand.
