Koncentracijski logor Kampor
In July 1942 the Italian army set up a concentration camp near Kampor, which at times held up to 15,000 people, mainly Slovenes, Croats and Jews. Thousands died of hunger, cold and disease. Today a memorial complex with a cemetery, laid out in 1955 to a design by the Slovenian architect Edvard Ravnikar, commemorates the victims. A quiet and moving place.
