Rapska fjera: how to enjoy it

From 25 to 27 July Rab town turns medieval, drawing over 10,000 visitors. Book early, stay within walking distance (Banjol, Palit) and leave the car. Visit the craft workshops and the beach fishing village, and try šulčići and fritule. On 27 July be at St Christopher’s Square in time for the crossbow tournament after the procession, then fireworks and a concert. Prefer it calmer? The crossbowmen also compete on 9 May, 30 May and 15 August. Wear good shoes – the lanes are steep.
