Governor’s Palace – Maritime and History Museum
This grand palace above the city was built from 1892 to plans by Alajos Hauszmann, who also worked on the Royal Palace in Budapest. The neo-Renaissance building, modelled on Palladio, sits in a French garden with two fountains. Since 1961 it has housed the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral, with maritime, historical, ethnographic and archaeological departments. It also keeps the models and sketches of the last Morčić maker.
