Grobnik

The fortified old town of Grobnik stands above Grobnik Field behind Rijeka. Its castle is linked to the Frankopan family, and the Church of Saints Philip and James is another prominent landmark.

The old town overlooks the plain. Castle events and exhibitions have separate access arrangements. The often-repeated story of a battle against the Tatars in 1242 belongs to local tradition and is not presented here as established historical fact.
