Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMSU)

The art museum in the Benčić quarter grew out of a gallery founded in 1948. Its Salon, launched in 1954, was the first group show of modern art in the former Yugoslavia. It took its current name in 2003. The collection runs from 19th-century Rijeka painters to Croatian and international art of the 20th and 21st centuries, including paintings, prints, posters, photography and media art.
