City Museum of Rijeka – Sugar Palace
This late Baroque palace in the Benčić art quarter was the headquarters of the sugar refinery, the city’s oldest industrial plant, founded in 1750. Its administration moved in 1786. After the refinery closed in 1828 a large tobacco factory followed, and after World War II the Rikard Benčić engine works. Since late 2020 the City Museum tells Rijeka’s story here across two floors, among richly painted walls and stucco.
