Hajdučki and Rožanski kukovi

The kukovi are the wild heart of Northern Velebit National Park: jagged limestone towers rising out of the forest. The area of about 22 km² was declared a nature reserve in 1969 and has some 40 summits above 1,600 m. The two groups are separated by Skrbina Draga and the Veliki Lubenovac field.

The Rožanski kukovi hide Lukina jama, at 1,392 m the deepest cave in Croatia, discovered in 1992.

The reserve itself is not freely accessible, but the Premužić Trail runs right through the rock landscape, with side paths to peaks such as Gromovača and Crikvena.
