Nikola Jurišić

The memorial commemorates Nikola Jurišić (1490–1545), who came from Senj. He became famous in 1532 for defending the fortress of Kőszeg (Güns) in present-day Hungary, where he held up the Ottoman army for weeks with only a small garrison.
