The Best Beaches on Krk 2027: Coves, Sandy Beaches and Family Beaches
Krk has beaches for every taste: long pebble beaches right in town, shallow family beaches, a few genuine sandy coves and wild swimming spots that you can only reach on foot or by boat. Here we introduce you to the most beautiful beaches on the island – and further down you'll find all the beaches with photos, location and map.
Vela plaža in Baška
The island's best-known beach lies in the south: Vela plaža in Baška is almost two kilometers long, with fine pebbles and a wonderful view of the mountains and the island of Prvić. There are cafés, sunbeds and water sports here, but also quieter stretches at the edges.
Wild coves in the south
Around Baška and Stara Baška you'll find some of the most beautiful coves on Krk. You reach Oprna cove via lots of steps, and Vela Luka cove via a hiking trail or by boat. The water here is especially clear. Bring water, shade and sturdy shoes, as there are usually no facilities or supplies.
Sand on Krk
Genuine sandy beaches are rare on Krk. Sveti Marak cove near Risika is well known, with fine sand and shallow water waiting for you. For more sand, it's worth taking a day trip by ferry to Lopar on Rab.
Family beaches
In Malinska, Njivice, Punat and Baška you'll find shallow pebble beaches with playgrounds, cafés and short walking distances. The beaches in the towns are mostly well kept and have lifeguards or sanitary facilities nearby in summer.
Beaches in Krk town and on the west coast
In Krk town you can swim at several beaches within walking distance of the old town, for example at Porporela cove. On the west coast between Malinska and Njivice there are many small swimming spots with pine trees and views of the sunset.
Tips for your beach day
Beach shoes are handy on many beaches because of the rocks and sea urchins. In peak season it's worth arriving early in the morning or from late afternoon. When the bora is blowing, the water on the east coast is often rough, so the beaches on the west coast are the better choice.
